Carlow welcome students from Emergency Services course

This March, Carlow County Fire & Rescue Service welcomed students over 3 days from the Carlow Institute of Further Education and Training who are completing the QQI Level 5 Emergency Services Pre Paramedic, Garda, Fire Service & Defence Forces Course. The students were welcomed by Carlow County Fire & Rescue Service at their Training Centre, the Hacketstown Training & Development Centre, one of the busiest Training Centres in Ireland where many firefighters across the Country receive training on different course types e.g. Firefighter Skills, Breathing Apparatus, Compartment Fire Behaviour, Road Traffic Collision.

The two classes were hosted for 1/2 a day each as an introduction to the Fire & Rescue Service in Carlow Fire Station, followed by two full days in the Hacketstown Training & Development Centre where they received an introductory experience of some of the training and roles we undertake in the Fire & Rescue Service. Well done to all who attended and may use this experience along with their FETAC Level 5 Emergency Services qualification as a foundation to consider a career with the Fire & Rescue Service in the future.

Special thanks to SO Darrell Hayden (Carlow Town) and SO Eddie Coleman (Hacketstown) for organising and delivering the experience.
